Although the entry has not been printed in Guinness editions since 1991, reputable sources claim that she has recorded thousands of songs, with estimates ranging up to figures as large as 50,000. SONG:DIL MEIN JO BAAT HAI WOH MUSIC:R.D.BURMAN LYRICS:ANAND BAKSHI SINGER:LATA MANGESHKAR MOVIE:ALIBABA AUR 40 CHOR Ali Baba aur 40 chor is a 1980 Hindi- film based on the story of Ali Baba, starring Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman. The story line is slightly altered to extend as a long movie. The movie was directed by Latif Faiziyev and Umesh Mehra. The writers were Shanti Prakash Bakshi and Boris Saakov. The music was scored by the infamous musician of yesteryear R.D.Burman. Hema Malini (born October 16, 1948) is an Indian actress and Bharatanatyam dancer-choreographer, who starred in numerous successful Bollywood films in the 1970s, most notably the extremely successful Sholay. Malini is one of the most successful female filmstars in the history of Bollywood. She has starred in a large number of hit films and in both commercial and arthouse cinema. She is a member of India's Bharatiya Janata Party and represents the party in Rajya Sabha, the upper House of parliament . She now spends most of her time involved in charitable and social ventures, though she still makes special appearances in films. Hema Malini R. Chakravarty was born in Ammankudi, Tiruchirapalli district, Tamil Nadu to, V.S.R. Chakravarty and Jaya Chakravarthy who was a film producer. Her mother, Shrimati Jaya Chakravarty, died on June 11, 2004 due to gangrene on her leg. Hema Malini was educated at Andhra Mahila Sabha, Chennai. She acted in a short episode as dancer in Pandava Vanavasam, a 1961 Telugu film. Hema first tried to enter films in 1964, but was rejected; Tamil director Sridhar said she had no star appeal. She persisted and found her niche in Bollywood. She debuted in a 1968 film Sapnon Ka Saudagar ("The Dreamseller"), playing a young teen opposite the ageing superstar Raj Kapoor. With Dev Anand in Johnny Mera Naam (1970), Hema became a top star. She worked with him again in Tere Mere Sapne (1971), among other films, with the latest being Aman Ke Farishtey (2003). Hema double-roled with Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar in 1972's Seeta Aur Geeta as the top female star in Bollywood. She became one of the reigning divas of the Bollywood film industry, and her fans called her The Dream Girl of Bollywood (an allusion to the movie of the same name where she starred opposite Dharamendra). Hema starred in many movies throughout the 1970s and 1980s and is perhaps best remembered for her glamour, style, and accomplished clical dancing. She formed a hit pair with Dharmendra, and the duo performed a number of hit movies like Sholay, Charas, Aas Paas, Jugnu, Seeta Aur Geeta, The Burning Train. She also achieved some strong dramatic or comic moments in films like Trishul, Joshila, Lal Patthar, Meera and Satte Pe Satta. After taking a back seat from films for a number of years in the 1990s and early 2000s, Hema has recently made a comeback of sorts. She co-starred with Amitabh Bachchan in the successful film Baghban (2003), and played a cameo role (also opposite Bachchan) in the 2004 blockbuster Veer-Zaara. In both films, she played a beautiful, self-possessed, old married woman rather than the ingenuinee roles of her earlier career. She tried her hand at directing and made the 1992 film Dil Aashna Hai which featured an all-star cast including Shahrukh Khan and the late Divya Bharti. She is a dedicated Bharatanatyam artiste, a clical dance of India. Her two daughters have trained in the related Odissi school of dance, and the three have performed together at several charity dance concerts. Top Bollywood stars like Sanjeev Kumar and Jeetendra proposed to her, but she married Dharmendra on 2 May 1980, who was already married with four children; two sons: Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol and two daughters. Later Dharmendra and Hema Malini had two daughters: Esha Deol (born 1982 and Ahana Deol. Hema Malini and her husband have been involved in politics, as members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was elected to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India, with the support of the BJP. In February 2004, she joined the party officially. With her film career less hectic, she has been an active member of the party, attending party meetings and rallies and campaigning for the party through various elections. She has said in interviews that she would never wear revealing outfits in movies, and has been true to her words till date. It is said that after she had shot for a swimsuit scene in a movie early in her career, her mother was so upset that she promised never to repeat it.

SONG:MEIN HOON SHARAABI MUSIC:R.D.BURMAN LYRICS:A.DARSHAN SINGER:SHAILENDRA SINGH MOVIE:ASHANTI Ashanti is a 1981 film starring Rajesh Khanna in the central role. He is supported by Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi, Shabana Azmi, Mithun Chakraborthy, and Amrish Puri. This movie is directed by Umesh Mehra and produced by Rajiv Mehra. Parveen Babi (April 4, 1949 - January 20, 2005) was an Indian actress. She was born in Junagadh and did her early schooling in Aurangabad and later attended St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad. Her father Vali Mohammed Babi, a Gujarati Muslim, was an administrator with the Nawab of Junagadh. Babi was born fourteen years after the marriage of her parents and was the only child. Parveen was considered to be one of the most successful Bollywood actresses in the 1970s and was known for her portrayal of iconoclastic women who did not care about the conventional norms of society. She was the first Indian actress to have been featured on TIME magazine's cover, in 1975. In her most successful films, she was paired opposite Amitabh Bachchan, who was one of the biggest stars of the decade, in cinematic blockbusters like Deewaar (1975) Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Shaan (1980), Kaalia (1981), and Khud-daar (1982). She was often compared with her contemporary Zeenat Aman due to their common image of being -symbols. In fact, she acted alongside Aman in Mahaan (1983) and Ashanti (1981) (inspired by the American television show Charlie's Angels, with the third role played by Shabana Azmi). In films like Deewar (1975), Shaan (1980) and Namak Halaal (1982) her screen presence may have been minimal (the films largely working around the hero) but Babi brought a certain attractive aloofness to the roles and songs she appeared in. In Manoj Kumar's big hit Kranti (1981), she stole scenes with her supporting role from Hema Malini, the heroine of the film. Babi also acted in offbeat films like Vinod Pandey's Yeh Nazdeekiyan (1982). Her success did not run into the mid-eighties as she had left the film industry to move to New York in 1983. Many of her completed films released in the following years right uptill her last film releasing in 1988. in New York she became ociated with the spiritual philosopher U. G. Krishnamurti. She returned to Mumbai in 1992 where she was unrecognizable as her former self after having put on a considerable amount of weight. She accused many foreign dignitaries and her former co-star, Amitabh Bachchan, of conspiring to kill her but her petition in court was dismissed for lack of evidence. She also filed an affidavit in the special court hearing the 1993 serial bomb blasts case, claiming that she had evidence to show, but she did not turn up in court after being summoned saying that she was afraid of being killed. Parveen had developed a persecution complex possibly stemming from other undiagnosed psychological factors. It is speculated that Parveen Babi suffered from schizophrenia and had become a recluse. It also probable that she was not schizophrenic but had a persecution complex and withdrew from society and films. However, she managed to maintain her posh penthouse apartment in Mumbai and live affluently from sound financial investments. She was diabetic for most of her life. Parveen did not marry but shared intimate relationships with married men: director Mahesh Bhatt, actors Kabir Bedi, and Danny Denzongpa. Parveen was also rumoured to have a relationship with her co-star Amitabh Bachchan. Mahesh Bhatt made Arth (1982), a semi-autobiographical film about his extramarital relationship with Babi, and Woh Lamhe (2006) based on actual facts about his relationship with her. She was found dead from the complications of her untreated diabetes. When she was found dead, one of her feet had gangrene on it. Parveen most possibly died in her sleep of complications as foul play and suicide were ruled out. She was found dead in her Mumbai apartment on January 20, 2005 after her residential society secretary complained to the police that she had not collected milk and newspapers from her doorstep for two days. She was found to have gangrene of the foot as a complication of her diabetic condition. The police ruled out any foul play. She was buried next to her mother at Santa Cruz, in Mumbai on January 23, after her funeral was held according to Islamic rites.

SONG:KABSE DHARI HAI SAAMNE BOTAL SHARAB KI MUSIC:SHANKAR JAIKISHAN LYRICS:RAJENDAR KRISHAN SINGER:MOHD RAFI,ASHA BHOSLE MOVIE:SACHAAI 1969 SHAMMI KAPOOR SANJEEV KUMAR SADHANA HELEN This love and social drama stars Sadhana and Shammi Kapoor in the lead. Shankar-Jaikishan composes the tracks with lyrics by Rajinder Kishan. Asha Bhosle, Mohd Rafi and Manna Dey render the songs. Ashok and Kishore (Shammi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar respectively) are two room-mates, living in a hostel. While Ashok takes to crime and dishonesty, Kishore is honest to a fault. When Kishore finds that his dad (Rajan Mehra) has been taking bribes, he leaves home angrily. Ashok and he disagree on a number of issues, mainly involving honesty, and both agree to meet each other after a period of three years, and see what life has had an effect for them. Kishore gets into bad company inadvertently, and is unable to free himself, and gets deeper and deeper into crime. While Ashok realizes it is not worthwhile to pursue a criminal career, and becomes a police inspector. Kishore is now known as the notorious Baghi Sitara, and Ashok is igned the task of apprehending him. The two do not know who the other is. Kishore comes to know of this ignment and his men kidnap Ashok, but Ashok manages to escape. Kishore must kill Ashok in order to carry out his nefarious activities. After three years the two have an emotional meeting, delighted to see other. What will be the outcome when they come to know that they each other's mortal enemies? Helen is regarded as an all-time great as a dancer in Hindi films. She also evolved into a character artist, though selectively. She reminisces about her past years. Helen Richardson Khan, better known as Helen, the actress who changed the entire scenario of dance in Hindi cinema from the early 50s to the late 70s to emerge many years later as a character actress in few chosen films. From an item number, then known as a 'cabaret' dancer, Helen raised the standard of sizzling dance numbers performed in nightclubs or as the repentant vamp in many Hindi films. She transformed this dance into an art and gave it a definite and respectable identity because, despite those scintillating gyrations in skimpy costumes, Helen exuded extreme sensuality and appeal without appearing either vulgar or obscene. She remained the queen of the cabaret in cinema for two decades. Neither Kareena Kapoor, who duplicated her famous 'Yeh mera dil' in THE DON RETURNS, nor Urmila Matondkar, who did ditto with the 'Meha meha' number in RGV's AAG, could hold a candle to the original Helen numbers in DON and SHOLAY. Today, the hourgl figure has put on pounds and those beautiful eyes are veiled in gold-rimmed spectacles. Helen presents a picture of grace, dignity and humility. In Kolkata for a couple of days in response to an invitation to judge a dance contest, Helen agreed to trace her footsteps back in time, smiling away, at times, happily, and at times, rather shyly when asked about her gutsy and sleazy dance numbers. Some of her famous numbers are: 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja' (Carvan) 'Meha meha" (Sholay) 'Aa Jaan-E-Jaan' (Inteqam) 'O Hena Zulfon Wali' (Teesri Manzil) 'Yeh mera dil pyaar ka deewana' (Don)

SONG:KYA HUWA YAAD NAHIN MUSIC:LAXMIKANT PYARELAL SINGER:MOHD RAFI MOVIE:MADADGAAR JEETENDRA SULAKSHANA PANDIT ARUNA IRANI Sulakshana Pandit is an actress and playback singer, comes from a musically-inclined family. Her brothers are Jatin Pandit and Lalit Pandit, better known as the composing duo Jatin Lalit. Her sister is actress and playback singer Vijeta Pandit who had starred in the teen hit film Love Story (1981 film). Sulakshana had a mid-level career as heroine in the 1970s and early 1980s, usually cast opposite Jeetendra in films, such as Apnapan (1977). Simultaneously, she also had a playback singing career, where she not only sang for some of her films that she starred in, but also for other heroines. She won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award in 1975 for singing "Tu hi saagar hai tu hi kinara" in Sankalp (1975).She was received a Filmfare Nomination as Best Female Playback Award for rendering the clical "bandhi re kahe preet" in Sankoch (1976) but lost it to Hemlata. Besides Jeetendra and Sanjeev Kumar, she also worked with Shammi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Raj Babbar and Rakesh Roshan. She had recorded a song "Mujhe pyar mein khat" for the film Hera Pheri(1975)which was rejected by the music company and re-recorded by Asha Bhosle. Sulakshana who was rejected as a singer got selected as the leading lady for the same film which also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna. Incidentally the song "Mujhe pyar mein" was picturised on Sulakshana on-screen. Sulakshana was mostly confined to playing glamour doll roles in films and seldom got a chance to display her acting ability. She did play an author backed role in Anil Ganguly's version of Parineeta which was named Sankoch (1976) where she got the opportunity to portray Lolita which was earlier played by Meena Kumari in 1954 and later by Vidya Balan in 2005. Even in a film like "Apnapan" (1977) where Pandit played the leading lady, it was Reena Roy who walked away with the accolades and also the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for portraying a role with grey shades. Pandit was always confined to play a typical Indian heroine who could do no wrong and romance the Hero according to his convenience. Even though Pandit never got an award for acting she did manage to remain in the bracket of mid-level heroines of the 1970s alongside Leena Chandavarkar, Moushmi Chatterjee, Ranjeeta Kaur, and Vidya Sinha. One of the most under rated Indian stars somewhere and some how one feels that Hindi Film Industry has not done justice to her. Some of her popular hit films are Hera Pheri, Apnapan, Sankoch, Khandaan, Raaz, Thief of Baghdad, Chehre Pe Chehra and Waqt Ki Deewar. She sang duets with accomplished singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd. Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Shailender Singh and Udit Narayan. Sulakshana began her career as a child singer singing the song "Saat Samundar paar se" in Taqdeer(1967) which she sang with the legendary Singer Lata Mangeshkar In 1976 Sulakshana was the busiest actress with the maximum number of films besides Hema Malini, Neetu Singh & Rekha. Mallika Sarabhai was originally cast as Vinod Khanna's heroine in Hera pheri(1976)by Director Prakash Mehra.Besides singing for herself Sulakshana also sang songs picturised on other heroines like Tanuja, Shabana Azmi, Rekha, Sharmila Tagore, Padmini Kolhapure & several others Sulakshana has never married. She wanted to marry actor Sanjeev Kumar, but he turned down her marriage proposal, because he never got over his heartbreak after actress Hema Malini rejected him to marry her frequent co-star Dharmendra. She also fell on hard times when she stopped getting work. She was living in an apartment with no furniture and that required serious repairs.. She was forced to put it up for sale, and it remained on the market for several months, until finally her former leading man Jeetendra came to her rescue by convincing his brother-in-law to purchase the flat. From the proceeds of the sale, she was able to pay off her debts and purchase three apartments. Her sister Vijeta Pandit and brother-in-law, music composer Aadesh Shrivastava took her in and are helping her get back on her feet. Aadesh has indicated that he was composing a devotional album for Sulakshana. Recent update: Unfortunately, Sulakshana has since been able to retain only one of the new flats, as an older brother and other sisters stole most of the proceeds from the sale of her flat.

DEDICATED TO BEENAKHAN SONG:AAPKA SARKAAR KYA KUCH MUSIC:KALYANJI ANANDJI LYRICS:ANJAAN SINGER:ASHA BHOSLE MOVIE:HERA PHERI AMITABH BACHCHAN SAIRA BANU VINOD KHANNA SULAKSHANA PANDIT PADMA KHANNA Hera Pheri is a 1976 Hindi movie directed by Prakash Mehra and starring Saira Banu with Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Sulakshana Pandit, Shreeram Lagoo and Asrani. The films music is by Kalyanji Anandji and the lyrics by Anjaan. Vinod Khanna received a Filmfare nomination as Best Supporting Actor, the only nomination for the film. PADMA KHANNA Padma Khanna is the weak link, not much of a performance, but little is required of her beyond flouncing, preening, and pouting. I'm not sure who she is; she seems to have been in plenty of movies in the 1970s but not many I had heard of, for what that's worth. I am also interested by how dark she is, for the movies - it made her very believable as a seductive village nymphlet Padma Khanna's introduction highlights her voluptuous appeal by showing her trying to catch droplets of sap on her tongue; it's very suggestive, almost ographic, at least to my dirty mind haven't seen this movie, but Padma Khanna is most famous for her sensual and seductive song "Husn Ke Lakhon Rang" in Dev Anand's Johnny Mera Naam, where she gives herself to Prem Nath to save her boyfriend's life. I think she mostly did small/supporting roles, and did some dance numbers similar to Helen (but didn't get the same fame as Helen).
